Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that keeping homes and workplaces tidy is important, and supports this with two main ideas: reducing time wasted looking for items and reducing stress. However, the task achievement is hindered significantly by two factors. Firstly, the response is under-length, containing only 217 words against the required 250-word minimum, which leads to under-developed arguments. Secondly, there is a tendency to over-generalize without fully extending the examples provided, such as mentioning an employee keeping a desk clean without deep elaboration. Because of the under-length penalty and limited development of ideas, the response meets the criteria for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a clear overall organization with an introduction, two body paragraphs featuring distinct supporting points, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion within sentences and paragraphs is often faulty, mechanical, or repetitive. For instance, the student relies heavily on basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', but struggles with accurate referencing and transitional phrasing, as seen in 'when everything is kept it on there proper place so people can find things easily'. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as shifting abruptly between plural and singular pronouns ('if employee... and he do not feel stressed'). Overall arrangement is coherent enough, but the mechanical nature of cohesive devices and faulty referencing place this firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for discussing the topic of organization and stress reduction. Words like 'productivity', 'anxiety', and 'atmosphere' demonstrate an attempt to use appropriate language. However, the lexical resource is restricted by frequent spelling, word choice, and word formation errors, such as 'Most of individuals' instead of 'Most individuals', 'save a time' instead of 'save time', 'en ironmenr' instead of 'environment', and confusing 'their', 'there', and 'they're'. These noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a vocabulary range that struggles beyond basic descriptive terms, aligning closely with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response shows an attempt to use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional structures ('if we keep their stuff on the proper place we can find easily'). However, the grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors occurring across almost every sentence. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'keeping homes and workplace tidy it helps', prepositional errors like 'kept it on there proper place', and missing articles. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty or structurally clumsy, such as 'if person do not keep their things on there proper place they feel more distracted'. While communication is rarely completely blocked, the high frequency of grammatical errors places this text at a Band 5.0.
