Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of a tidy home and workplace, clearly stating a position in the introduction that this is a positive development. Ideas are presented for both home and workplace environments, covering stress reduction, productivity, and health benefits. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, and the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 229 words. This negative impact on length prevents the task from being fully developed, aligning the response with Band 5.0 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing a basic overall structure. Paragraphing is used to separate home and workplace ideas. However, progression is sometimes hindered by mechanical transitions, such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'First and foremost is that higher productivity.' Referencing and substitution are occasionally faulty, as seen in the incomplete concluding sentence ('In conclusion, clean environment on both workplace and home helps to work in better way'). Cohesive devices are sometimes used inaccurately, placing this criterion at a Band 5.5 level.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common collocations and phrases such as 'plethora of benefits,' 'ailments and allergic reactions,' and 'potential of work.' However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'maintaining your home and workplace clean, placing everything on place,' 'clean desk help people finds tool and document fast,' and 'on permanent place.' These errors reflect a Band 5.5 level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('if our room and home is clean well organised helps,' 'clean desk help people finds'), missing articles ('on daily'), and prepositional errors ('placing everything on place' instead of 'in place'). These errors frequently cause strain for the reader, placing accuracy firmly at Band 5.0.
