Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people believe that keeping the home and workplace tidy and ensuring that everything is organised and stored in its proper place is important. I strongly agree with this view because an organised environment can improve productivity, reduce stress, and save valuable time.
First of all, maintaining an orderly environment makes it easier to concentrate and work efficiently. When items are kept in designated places, people can find what they need quickly instead of wasting time searching for them. This is particularly important in the workplace, where employees may have to deal with documents, equipment and other materials on a daily basis. For example, in an office, organising files according to categories can help employees locate important information immediately and complete their tasks more efficiently.
Furthermore, a tidy environment can have a positive effect on people's mental well-being. Clutter and disorganisation may make a person feel overwhelmed, whereas a clean and structured space can create a greater sense of calm and control. For instance, after a busy day at work, returning to a clean home can make it easier to relax and enjoy one's free time.
However, keeping everything perfectly organised does not mean that people should spend excessive amounts of time cleaning. A simple routine, such as putting things back after use and regularly organising important areas, is usually sufficient.
In conclusion, I believe that keeping both homes and workplaces tidy is highly beneficial. It promotes efficiency, reduces unnecessary stress and allows people to use their time more effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response fully addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating an opinion on whether homes and workplaces should be kept tidy and organised. The position is well-developed throughout the essay. The writer introduces the thesis clearly in the introduction, supports it with logical arguments regarding productivity, efficiency, and mental well-being in the body paragraphs, and even addresses a counter-argument effectively by noting that cleaning should not consume excessive time. Specific and relevant examples are provided, such as organising office files to locate information immediately and returning to a clean home after a busy day. Ideas are extended and supported appropriately, meeting the criteria for a strong band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay displays clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, starting with an introductory thesis, moving through productivity and mental well-being, acknowledging a practical caveat, and concluding effectively. Cohesive devices are used appropriately and naturally to guide the reader, such as "First of all", "Furthermore", "However", and "In conclusion". Paragraphing is managed sufficiently and appropriately, with each new idea cleanly separated into its own paragraph. Referencing is clear throughout the text, ensuring the flow of ideas is never interrupted or confusing.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The student demonstrates an adequate and flexible range of vocabulary suited to the general task topic. Less common lexical items are used with some awareness of style and collocation, such as "designated places", "mental well-being", "overwhelmed", and "structured space". Word choices are generally precise and natural, contributing to effective communication of ideas. There are no noticeable spelling or word-choice errors that impede the reader, showing a solid command of vocabulary typical of a competent user.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay contains a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures used accurately. The student demonstrates control over complex forms, incorporating conditional and participial elements naturally, such as "When items are kept in designated places, people can find what they need quickly instead of wasting time searching for them." Punctuation and grammar are well-managed, and the majority of sentences are error-free. While minor slips may occasionally occur, they do not impede communication or strain the reader, reflecting a strong grasp of English grammar.
