Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is believed by some people organising home and workplace are important in order to make home tidy.I believe keeping home and work place assembled is a good way to save time and be displined.

One benefit of organising home and work place is time saving.Nowadays, life has becomemore busy than past.People are always rush to their things especailly when they manage both home and wprk life.If they things are kept at exact places and organised. It would not only saves their time to find but also makes their environment more nice and clean. As a result, they do not need to waste time on finding those things which are being used on daily basics.

Another benefit of keeping surroundings organised is impact positively to others. When people keep their work station clean and well organised ,they are likely to receive appreciation from team mates .It is highly liekely to immiate by others team members and which can cause a good and well mannered ambiance .Consequently,it reduces the stress to find things at work station.

Balance is another important factor in everyone's life. When people starts managing things ,they are more likely to make a balance between things which makes their life more easier. So they can spend more time on others things rather than setting and organising home .

To sum up,I would like to reiterate that balance is important between home and workplace.Organising things by putting them back after using has many benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of keeping homes and workplaces tidy, outlining benefits such as saving time and creating a positive atmosphere. A clear personal position is presented in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deeper extension, relying on general statements rather than fully elaborated examples. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 239 words, which results in a penalty under the length requirement rule. Consequently, the task achievement is restricted to a band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, showing an overall structure. Logical organization is attempted, but transitions between ideas can be abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes inaccurately or mechanically, such as 'Consequently, it reduces the stress' and 'As a result, they do not need to waste time'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen with 'If they things are kept'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better control to achieve a higher band. Therefore, a band 6.0 is appropriate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting words like 'ambiance', 'appreciation', and 'reiterate'. However, there are notable limitations and frequent word-choice errors, such as 'displined' instead of disciplined, 'becomemore', 'wprk', and 'daily basics' instead of daily basis. The student also struggles with collocation, writing 'impact positively to others' rather than 'positively impacts others'. While the meaning is generally communicated, these recurring lexical inaccuracies cap the score at a band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses ('If they things are kept at exact places and organised. It would not only saves...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation flaws throughout the text, including fragment sentences, subject-verb agreement issues ('If they things are'), and incorrect verb forms ('When people starts'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar performance firmly within band 5.0.
