Student answer (Band 6.5)

The matter of keeping everything organised and in the correct place at home and at workplace has become widely important whereas it has also become topic of talk by a number of people. I have a positive viewpoint on this as it bring in several benefits which I will discuss further.

To commence with, effeciency gets the real boost when you are about to do some task whether at home or workplace. Sometimes just to find a right tool adds up time which turns into frustration. Meanwhile, if tool is kept organised and in the correct place, valuable time could be utilized somewhere else. From my personal car repair habit at home, I specifically assigned a tote for all mechanical tools. Contrarily, if I have to spend time finding tools it will delay my whole schedule.

Furthermore, organised places operate smoothly in a flow. At workplace where inventory is usually huge and a person cannot simply remember a huge number of data. Thus, even when inserting the data on a computer organisation needs to be done correctly. Being not able to find correct item in the inventory when a customer is waitng at the counter could potentially lead to losing a valuable customer. To counter this issue, as far as I know companies spend immense amount of money on trainings where keeping everything in correct place is taught to employee.

To conclude, I do not see any consequences on this topic as it only brings in positive results. Companies spending immense amount of budget on these skills already know the value it brings at workplace. While on the other, keeping your home tidy has become extremly important as well. At home, it could seem difficult with kids around but being able to manage everything is generally applauded and appreciated by everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position on the importance of keeping homes and workplaces tidy and organised. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the writer's personal car repair habit and the discussion on workplace inventory management. The main body paragraphs explore how organisation boosts efficiency and prevents losses, demonstrating a good grasp of the prompt. While the reasoning is occasionally slightly generalised, the overall development is solid, and the position is maintained consistently from the introduction through to the conclusion, meeting all the requirements for a Band 7 performance under this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay presents a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, moving logically from home habits to workplace contexts. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader, with phrases like 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' clearly structuring the essay. However, some referencing is slightly awkward or mechanical, such as 'While on the other' in the final paragraph missing a noun like 'hand'. Paragraph transitions and cohesive relationships are generally well managed, ensuring the overall progression remains clear and easy to follow, making this a solid Band 6.5 to 7.0 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'efficiency', 'frustration', 'inventory', and 'immense amount of money'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'effeciency' instead of efficiency, 'waitng' instead of waiting, and 'extremly' instead of extremely. Additionally, phrases like 'has become topic of talk' and 'bring in several benefits' are a bit unnatural in collocation. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly without impeding the reader's understanding, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. There is reasonable control of basic grammar, but several grammatical errors persist throughout the text. Examples include missing articles or prepositions ('at workplace', 'find a right tool'), minor subject-verb agreement slips ('as it bring in several benefits'), and awkward phrasings like 'Being not able to find correct item'. While these errors occur fairly frequently, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to grasp the core arguments easily. This balanced mix of accurate simple structures and flawed complex forms places the writing firmly at Band 6.0.
