Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some individuals contend that it is crucial to keep work and living space neat, clean and organised. In my opinion, a clean and hygenic workplace allows people to work effectively. It makes their mind creative and boost their analytical skills. Moreover, it is easy and quick to find an item in a well-organised home.

To commence with, the main reason why some people argue that it is important to clean workplace and home regularly is that it manginfies their thinking abilities and uplits their mood. To elaborate, it is scientifically proven that we feel what we see. If we see a clutters workdesk then we will feel frustrated and that may diminish our congnitive skills. On the other hand, a clean and well-organised workplace will allow us to work with a calm mindset. A clam and relaxed mind will generate ideas quickly and effectively. For instance, it is always advised in offices to keep your workarea clean to foster productivity and maintain a happy environment.

In addition to this, a well-organised living space is imperative becasue it helps us to find items when needed. To expound, some things are embedded in our daily lifestyle. If we keep them at proper places then it wil be convenient for us to find then again when needed. To exemplify, I used to throw away my car keys after enterting my room. One day I was struggling to find the keys and due that I was late for my exams in the final semester. Lucky my teacher allowed me to sit in the exam because of her forbearing nature.

To recapitulate, this essay has discussed that it is important to keep our hoe and work area tidy and organised because it imporves our focus and problem-solving skills at workplace. Moreover, keeping things at proper place is equally important as it allows us to find the item for netx use.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The candidate addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating an opinion in the introduction and developing it throughout the essay with relevant ideas and personal experiences. The response considers both workplace productivity and the practical benefits of organisation at home, such as locating items easily. Ideas are supported with explanations and examples, although the example regarding the university exam is slightly anecdotal and personal. The position remains clear throughout the response. Overall, the task is addressed competently, aligning well with the expectations of the Band 6.5 to 7.0 descriptors. To reach higher bands, the supporting examples could be slightly more generalized or developed with greater depth rather than relying heavily on personal narrative.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with distinct introductions to separate body paragraphs addressing work and home environments respectively. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "To commence with", "In addition to this", and "To recapitulate". However, some of the linking phrases feel slightly mechanical or formulaic, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher band. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional transitional awkwardness occurs, such as "due that I was late". Overall, the structural framework is sound, resulting in a coherent and easily navigable text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "hygenic", "magnifies", "cognitive skills", and "forbearing nature". However, there are notable spelling and word-choice inaccuracies throughout the text, including "hygenic" (hygienic), "manginfies" (magnifies), "clutters" (cluttered), "congnitive" (cognitive), "clam" (calm), "becasue" (because), "enterting" (entering), "imporves" (improves), and "netx" (next). While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the lexical score from reaching Band 7.0, as control over less common lexical items is inconsistent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures ("If we see a cluttered workdesk then we will feel...") and relative clauses. There is a reasonable variety of sentence structures attempted. However, the text contains a noticeable number of grammatical and mechanical errors, such as missing articles, punctuation slips, and awkward phrasing ("due that I was late", "Lucky my teacher allowed me"). Despite these inaccuracies, the meaning remains clear throughout, and the errors do not severely impede communication. This performance aligns comfortably with the Band 6 descriptors, where simple and complex sentences are mixed with some persistent errors.
