Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that keeping home and workplace tidy, with everything organised is very important. I will explain why i believe this is important in the following paragraphs.

One of the major reasons behind this approach is it saves time. when everything is orgainsed in the correct place, people can find their necessary items immediately instead of wasting their time on searching. Apart from saving time, it also effects the environment of the house, as well as the individual's mood because tidy places shows comfort and orgainsed way of living. For example, when people don't rush on searching things at home in emergency situations, and they know where the things are placed, they stay calm and keep their mood healthy otherwise they panic and argue with each other, which ultimately effects the house's environment.

In my opinion, i believe that keeping workplace and home tidy is actually very important beacause it builds the sense of discipline among people. It prevents them to waste their time on searching items or getting confused on things. For instance, It is observed that surroundings has greater impact on people's thinking, tidy places can provide sense of discipline and dedication, which can allow people to focus on their work, and perform better.

To conclude, maintaining, and organising workplace and home has various benefits. Initially, it saves time, effects mood to focus on work, and helps to build sense of discipline which can help people to grow in their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of keeping a home and workplace tidy, presenting a clear personal opinion. However, there is a penalty for length because the response contains only 244 words, which falls short of the mandatory 250-word minimum. Despite this constraint, the ideas are relevant and supported with explanations, such as saving time and maintaining a calm environment. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to fully develop all parts of the task with greater depth, ensure the word count requirement is consistently met, and avoid repetitive phrasing in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is arranged into four paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. Ideas are logically sequenced, moving from time-management benefits to mental well-being and discipline. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the major reasons', 'Apart from saving time', and 'To conclude', although some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. However, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and logical progression within the second body paragraph could be smoother to secure a higher band score.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas about organization, discipline, and environment. There are attempts to use less common items and functional phrases, such as 'emergency situations', 'dedication', and 'mental well-being'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'orgainsed' instead of 'organized' and the misuse of 'effects' instead of 'affects' in multiple places. These errors do not impede communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 6 range for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and relative clauses ('when everything is organised in the correct place, people can find their necessary items immediately'). While the writer shows an ability to form complex sentences, there are persistent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, including lowercase 'i' used as a personal pronoun, comma splices, and incorrect prepositions ('prevents them to waste' instead of 'prevents them from wasting'). Nevertheless, the majority of sentences are understandable, and the errors only rarely impede communication.
