Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, the topic related to tidiness is rising in everbody's life. Although, some people believe that tidiness is important to be in discipline while others argue that it not that important. So, in today's essay I will talk about both sides along with some examples and give my opinion in the end.

To begin with, tidiness do play an important role in keeping an individual in discipline because it helps to get rid of laziness. For example, when we wake up in the morning, a simple task of folding the blankets seems an useless task but when an individual do it regularly it creates a sense of discipline in his life because it becomes one of the task in his or her day to day life. Moreover, keeping everything organised at work helps a person to find the important things easily and as well it shows the you are well-organised.

On the other hand, many of the people argue that it doesn't make any sense to do small tasks just to show themselves a bit clean and wasting so much time on these type of things. Furthermore, these people also believe that why to keep everything organised when they have AI to take care of their tasks today. Some of these people also argue that if they are going to do everything then why they need other people such as cleaners to do their job.

In my opinion, I believe that an individual should keep tidiness and do his or her day to day tasks and shouldn't be a burden on other people such as their mothers or wives. I also believe that keeping everything organised give us a chance to relax ourselves when other people are busy finding the things.

In conclusion, it is important to keep your home and your workplace tidy, with everything in place and correct order in order to help yourself and others, even when you are not at work or you are sick so it can be easily accessible to other people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue regarding home and workplace tidiness and clearly states a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the first body paragraph touches on discipline and avoiding laziness, illustrated by folding blankets, but some arguments remain somewhat repetitive and under-developed. The second body paragraph introduces interesting counterarguments regarding AI and cleaners, yet these concepts are not fully explored or substantiated with detailed examples. The position is visible throughout the essay, but to move to a higher level, all main ideas require deeper extension and more robust support rather than brief over-generalised claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, demonstrating paragraphing that is used sufficiently and appropriately. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, referencing and transitional links occasionally feel rigid, and the progression between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The half-band achievement reflects a generally clear logical organisation, but to fully reach the next tier, the student needs to integrate cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that referencing within and across sentences is consistently clear and precise without feeling formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to convey basic arguments about tidiness and organisation. The student attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'well-organised', 'accessible', and 'discipline', but there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing, such as 'tidiness do play an important role' and 'type of things'. Spelling and word-form errors occur occasionally, as seen in 'everbody's'. While communication is not severely impeded, these lexical limitations and occasional awkward phrasing restrict the score. Incorporating more precise academic vocabulary and idiomatic collocations would significantly strengthen this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'tidiness do play' and 'an useless task', alongside articles and preposition errors such as 'shows the you are well-organised' and 'wasting so much time on these type of things'. While these errors rarely completely obscure the meaning, they are common enough to impact readability. A higher band would require a broader range of error-free complex structures and tighter control over basic grammatical rules and punctuation.
