Student answer (Band 5.5)
First of all, I don't know who doesn't want to keep their home and workplaces tidy. Because its a basic sense that a human bieng should have. I personally hate the places where everything is mess, where it stinks, where everything is left unorganised. Its ok, if you are too busy when you are occupied. But eventually it has to be cleaned. I am a muslim, my religion teaches me that my half faith is the cleanliness. Even when it comes to the prayer part, we muslims pray 5 times a day. Every time we pray we should purify ourself with the oblution. Like wash your hands thrice, wash the face, Gargle the water, so that if anything stuck in teeths should flush out when you spit, Clean the nose and feet cleanly. So, for me the cleanliness and being tidy is very important.
Coming to the part where everything should be organised, i have a dream. It starts from building a nice big house, where everything will be designed by me. Because I belive I have a really good imagination power when it comes to Organising or making the place look aesthetic and charming. Even now, it doesn't matter workplace or home, it should be clean, neat and everything should be organised.
For example I live with my mom and my sister. They do keep it clean, but sometimes they messes with my shelf where all my belongings like my watches, bands, chains, rings, ties and perfumes are organised. I cant just look at that shelf, if its not organised.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by giving an opinion on whether homes and workplaces should be kept tidy, but it does so only partially. The writer adopts a clear personal position stating that cleanliness and organisation are very important, supported by personal anecdotes and religious beliefs. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding religious practices transitions into a detailed personal ritual description rather than a broader exploration of the topic. Similarly, the example about family members disrupting the shelf is too narrow to fully develop the broader societal implications of the prompt. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support ideas with more robust arguments and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation evident in the division into paragraphs, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. The essay begins abruptly with 'First of all, I don't know who doesn't want...' which sets an overly informal, conversational tone rather than a structured academic or general task flow. Cohesive devices are used minimally or somewhat inaccurately, such as 'Coming to the part where...' which sounds disjointed and mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs falters as ideas shift abruptly from religious ablutions to personal architectural dreams and family habits without smooth transitional links. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, leaving the reader to navigate sudden topic shifts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The lexical range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'aesthetic', 'charming', and 'oblution' (ablution), but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word form and spelling, such as 'bieng' for being, 'mess' for messy, 'teeths' for teeth, and 'belive' for believe. While these inaccuracies do not entirely impede communication, they highlight a restricted control over word choice and spelling conventions. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range and demonstrate greater precision and accuracy in spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and informal conversational patterns. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. There are notable issues with verb tenses and agreement, such as 'Because its a basic sense' and 'sometimes they messes'. Punctuation and article usage also show persistent inaccuracies, such as missing articles ('is half faith') and incorrect punctuation placement. To improve, the writer needs to employ a wider variety of complex grammatical structures with increased accuracy and better control over basic sentence mechanics.
