Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially and falls short of the minimum length requirement of 250 words, totaling only 232 words. Your position is presented in the introduction, but the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For example, while you mention that keeping a home tidy brings positive vibes and helps you stay focused in your career, this point is not fully extended or supported with specific reasoning. The argument regarding tools being organised in an emergency is relevant, but the explanation relies on a somewhat repetitive and conversational tone ('To explain it more, suppose if...'). To move to a higher band, you need to write more extensively to meet the word count requirement and fully develop your main ideas with deeper elaboration and clearer examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs addressing the workplace, the home, and emergencies, and concluding with a summary. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Lastly', but referencing is not always clear, as seen in the concluding paragraph where phrases like 'Well, I provided all my opinions...' disrupt the flow. Paragraphing is used, but transitions between ideas can feel abrupt. To improve, you should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs without relying on formulaic phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your lexical resource is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'professional worker', 'positive vibes', and 'reputation', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, terms like 'homeplace' are awkward, and spelling errors such as 'habbit', 'currier', 'pealingoff', and 'efforts' detract from the overall quality of the writing. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary range, use precise word choices and collocations suitable for an IELTS response, and carefully check your spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. For example, sentence boundaries are often blurred, resulting in run-on sentences like 'Well it is true that keeping your work or homeplace tidy and organised. In the upcoming fragment I will provide my opinion on the provided question.' Furthermore, you make errors in subject-verb agreement and prepositions, such as 'everything on their correct position' instead of 'in their correct position', and missing articles. To reach a higher band, you must demonstrate a greater variety of complex structures with improved accuracy and better control over punctuation.
