Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is to be said that keeping your home and workplace tidy and placing everything in its place is very crucial. Hence keeping your space clean is very satisfying and important. This essay will elaborate several opinions regrding this fact.

To begin with, keeping the household tidy gives people a sense of mental satisfaction and gratification. It let people to stay organised and their brain work more effectively when and live across the organised places. Moreover, keeping the personal space clean make that person a living example for their friends and family circle and they try to adapt their habbits of how they make even an ordinary looking space admireable and extra-ordinary. For example, my hostel room in university was situated in the old block and the rooms were not in good condition. But when I moved there, I always try to keep my room clean and organised and I added some indoor plants which enhanced it's beauty and whenever someone come to visit me in my room they always admire how I turned that room from scratch to a cozy and comfortable place.

However, it is more benifical to keep the workplace tidy as this will mark a great point in your promotion. Especially if someone is working in a hospitality industry then their major performance depende on how much organised and clean they keep their work station. Although, statistics shows that working in a clean enviornment let the human mind work more effectively and it progress alot.

In conclusion, keeping the workspace, living area clean and dirt free can make a huge impact on your lifestyle and people feel more refreshed and energetic to do something meaningfull if they use to get a clean enviornment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you support keeping both homes and workplaces tidy, and you address each setting with relevant reasons. The university-room example is specific and helps illustrate how an organised space can be welcoming and influence others. The workplace paragraph also introduces a relevant link between cleanliness, performance and promotion. However, these ideas are not developed equally: the promotion claim is asserted rather than explained, and the reference to statistics gives no source or detail. The opening also promises “several opinions” without clearly setting out the main reasons. To strengthen the response, explain the practical effects of tidiness—for example, how an organised workstation saves time or reduces mistakes—and connect each example directly to your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs about the home and workplace, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “However” help signal the direction of the discussion, and the personal example gives the first body paragraph a clear focus. Some links are less effective or mechanical: “However” introduces another supporting reason rather than a contrasting view, while “Hence” in the introduction does not clearly connect the ideas. The second body paragraph moves quickly from promotion to hospitality work and then to an unsupported statistics claim. Improve progression by grouping each paragraph around one main reason and using transitions that accurately show whether you are adding, contrasting or explaining an idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “mental satisfaction,” “organised,” “performance,” and “comfortable,” and you attempt more descriptive language in the room example. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, such as “regrding,” “benifical,” “enviornment,” and “make ... space admireable.” Some expressions are also repetitive or vague, including repeated references to keeping spaces “clean” and “organised,” and “mark a great point in your promotion” does not express the intended idea naturally. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling carefully. Alternatives such as “improve concentration” or “maintain an orderly workspace” would make your points clearer and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a longer sentence describing your hostel room. However, errors in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “It let people to stay organised” should use a suitable verb pattern, and “keeping the personal space clean make” has a subject–verb agreement error. In “when I moved there, I always try,” the tense shifts unexpectedly, while “their brain work more effectively when and live” is structurally unclear. Some sentences also run together, particularly the long room example. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking tense consistency, agreement and punctuation.
