Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that homes and workplaces should be kept tidy with everything well-organised and in the appropriate place. In my opinion, I completely agree with this view. Although cleaning is a time-consuming task yet it offers various advantages which will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, if we keep the home and the workplace tidy, the put a positive impact on the viewers. To elaborate it, it is easier to find anything if we are in hurry if the area is well maintained. For example, there might be some emergency and the guests have to come home on spot, without bothering we can prep our things immediately. Therefore, this is the most significant merit of keeping the area clean.

Furthermore, workplace is the most important place where our image is build. If the place is cluttered with files and documents, then it creates bad impact on other individuals and ruins the overall image of the company. For instance, if there is any meeting on spot, then we donot need to rush to clean our area first. We can prepare for files in the mean time. Hence, workplace should be kept tidy and everything needs to be kept in proper place assigned to it as it helps to reduce the wastage of time and the energy.

However, some individuals opine it by saying that it is a time-consuming activity. They hold a view that it is personal choice for keeping the area clean or not. In my view, home and the workplace are the the two places where a person spends most of their time and so should be kept clean.

To sum up, although people opine it by saying that it is a personal choice but these areas should be given preference of cleaning first.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that homes and workplaces should be tidy, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including making items easier to find and presenting a professional image, with examples involving unexpected guests and meetings. This addresses the task, but the ideas are not developed equally. The home example focuses mainly on preparing for guests rather than explaining the broader value of organisation, while the workplace point about saving time and energy could be supported with a more specific illustration. The opposing view is mentioned as a time-consuming activity and a personal choice, but it is not explored before you reaffirm your opinion. Explain and support each main reason more fully to make the response more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs supporting your opinion, a paragraph acknowledging an opposing view, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “To sum up” help signal the stages of your argument. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is occasionally unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from finding things quickly to an emergency involving guests without clearly explaining how tidiness helps in that situation. The conclusion also repeats the opposing view before restating your position, rather than drawing together your main reasons. Use clearer references and transitions between each claim and its explanation, and make the final paragraph synthesise the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “well-organised,” “cluttered,” “overall image,” and “wastage of time and the energy.” These choices help communicate your main points, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “put a positive impact,” “on spot,” “bad impact,” and “prepare for files.” There are also spelling or form issues, including “donot” and “build” where “built” is intended. These do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Focus on learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if we keep the home and the workplace tidy” and a concession beginning “Although cleaning is a time-consuming task.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “the put a positive impact” has an incorrect subject and verb, and “workplace is the most important place where our image is build” contains article and verb-form problems. The sentence “Although cleaning is a time-consuming task yet it offers…” also combines conjunctions awkwardly, while “the the two places” repeats an article. Review subject–verb structure, articles, verb forms, and punctuation around introductory clauses. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
