Student answer (Band 6.0)

The importance of keeping our surroundings neat and well organised is appreciated by many people where others like to sit in mess. I largely agree with this notion because keeping one's place organised gives you several benefits. The habit of maintaining cleanliness whether it's a personal space or it is an office room gives a positive impact of one's nature on others.

Considering the statement, it is approved by the recent research too, that the people who look after their places where they live are actually very disciplined. They have a trait different from most people to give a well managed impression, They personally do not have to do this for others opinion or appreciation. Rather they are not bothered by such things but it is part of their personality to maintain their area of work. This is a very blessed instinct in such humans to realise it that is it ethically not correct to sit in unclean and untidy room. Moreover, it is a psychological factor that those individuals who maintain their work and home premises are more successful. This shows they not only organise their surroundings but also their lives. They have career goals and destinations that they achieve step by step maintaining balance. So, being a tidy person gives alot of optimistic information about that person.

On the other hand, if we imagine a sluggish individual, who works in messy office cabin. He migh be disliked by his fellow workers due to his habits. Sometimes his colleague might mock him as well. This overall gives a bad impression about that person's habits. Furthermore, when he needs a file on urgent basis and he will not be able to locate it due to collapsing pile of unnecessary files. It will ultimately lead to chaos and failure of doing tasks on time. This shows that keeping things where they are and re-arranging an untidy place saves you time and energy. Same thing applies for one's household as it needs disciplined look too.

In my point of view, taking care of one's place and keeping everything in organisation holds a paramount value in judging others personality. It gives a good memorable impression to others about us overall.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you largely support keeping homes and workplaces organised, and you give relevant reasons, including the impression tidiness creates and the time lost searching for files. The workplace example helps make the practical benefit concrete, and you also refer to the home. This addresses the task well. However, some claims are asserted rather than explained: for example, the link between tidy surroundings and being “more successful” or having career goals is broad and would benefit from a specific example or qualification. The discussion of how untidy people are judged also takes space from developing the practical and personal benefits. To strengthen the response further, explain each main reason with a clearer example and avoid presenting generalisations as established facts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and drawbacks, and a concluding opinion. Ideas generally progress from personal qualities to workplace consequences, and linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the second paragraph moves through several claims—discipline, ethics, psychological success, and career goals—without clearly showing how each follows from the previous one. References such as “This shows” and “that person” can also be vague. The conclusion repeats the idea of making a good impression rather than drawing together the main reasons. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise links between claims and examples to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “well organised,” “disciplined,” “premises,” “chaos,” and “paramount value.” These choices show ambition, but several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “sit in mess,” “gives a positive impact of one's nature,” and “a blessed instinct.” There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “alot” and “migh,” alongside repeated use of “place,” “person,” and “impression.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall meaning remains understandable. Aim for natural collocations and precise wording rather than elevated phrases that do not fit the context; for example, describe tidiness as creating a positive impression, rather than as evidence of someone’s character.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional and relative clauses, as in “when he needs a file on urgent basis” and “individuals who maintain their work and home premises.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “where others like to sit in mess” has an unclear clause structure, while “when he needs a file … and he will not be able to locate it” shifts awkwardly between present and future forms. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as “on urgent basis,” “others opinion,” and the comma splice in “impression, They personally.” Review article use and sentence boundaries, and check that verb forms remain consistent within each sentence. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied structures clearer.
