Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people commonly believe that it is important to keep your household and your work environment clean with everything organized and kept in the right place. This essay will discuss why home and workplace should be tidy, organized and in the correct place. In my own opinion, it is a good idea because it makes working especially at the office easier and comfortable.

The primary reason why home and workplace should be organized or at the correct place is because it makes working equipment accessible and easy to reach. These prevent delay while working because required tools are at a place, to prevent misplacement of some items and helps in identifying items needs restocking. For instance, painters clean up after each painting to keep the surrounding free from spillage and damage to paintings. Although, some workplaces are hard to be kept clean all time.

Furthermore, homes are better kept tidy, arranged and everything at the perfect location because it is a safe place for children and adults. To avoid domestics accidents households need to be free from bumps and grease. Discard every sharp object endangering the house, items used in homes are placed at the right corner like knives which can only be accessed by adults. However, keeping the environment conducive is a collective effort from all occupants.

In conclusion, homes and workplace are accessed by different people with different character, height and mood whereas with the same goal to be safe at all time. In my opinion, I believe it makes working comfortable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support keeping homes and workplaces tidy, and you give relevant reasons about access to equipment and household safety. The examples of painters cleaning up and keeping knives away from children help connect your points to practical situations. This addresses the task, but the ideas are not developed equally. The workplace paragraph explains accessibility, yet the painting example focuses more on preventing spills than on how organisation improves work. The safety point is also somewhat unclear in places, particularly “free from bumps and grease.” To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each reason more fully and make the conclusion restate your main reasons rather than introducing the broad idea that people have different “character, height and mood.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. “The primary reason” and “Furthermore” signal the progression from workplace organisation to household safety, while “For instance” introduces an example. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “These prevent delay” has an uncertain reference, and the contrast introduced by “Although” does not develop into a complete, clearly connected point. The conclusion’s “whereas” relationship is also difficult to follow. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph’s main point explicit, using pronouns only when their reference is clear, and ensuring contrast words connect genuinely contrasting ideas. A more direct conclusion would give the essay a stronger sense of completion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “accessible,” “misplacement,” “restocking,” and “conducive,” and the topic is generally understandable. There are also attempts to vary expressions for tidiness, such as “organized,” “arranged,” and “in the correct place.” However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural, including “domestics accidents,” “at the perfect location,” and “different character, height and mood.” Repetition of “place,” “organized,” and “tidy” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise collocations and avoid adding words that do not clearly support your meaning. For example, describe specific household hazards and explain how an orderly space reduces them, rather than relying on vague phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “although,” and “whereas.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. In “These prevent delay … and helps,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence combines several ideas without a clear structure. “Although, some workplaces are hard to be kept clean all time” is not correctly formed as a standalone sentence, while “items needs restocking” also has an agreement error. There are some punctuation and article issues as well. To improve, check subject–verb agreement, make sure subordinate clauses form complete sentences, and divide long sentences when they contain several separate points.
