Student answer (Band 7.0)

Some people believe that it is important to keep your environment neat, with everything organized and in order. I strongly agree with this opinion because clean surroundings and proper organization of items increases productivity, reduces stress and promotes good sense of responsibility.

One of the major advantage of cleanliness at home and in the workplace is that it increases efficiency. When things are properly kept and arranged appropriately, it saves time and tasks are carried out effectively. For example when documents are neatly arranged in the office, these documents can be easily accesed when needed thereby promoting productivity.

Cleanliness and orderliness reduces mental stress. A disorganized and untidy environment can be overwhelming and mentally exhausting. In contrast, when everything are kept in order it reduces mental stress. For example, at the workplace a neat and tidy work desk helps one function effectively unlike when one has a scattered and disorganized work table.

Another importance of having a clean home and a tidy work space is that it promotes a deep sense of responsibility. When a guest visit your home and everywhere is tidy, it passes a message that the occupant of the home is well organized and responsible. Also at the workplace, if one appears to be neat, it promotes professionalism.

Overall having a clean home and a tidy workplace is very important because it increases efficiency and saves time. It also reduces mental stress and promotes a deep sense of responsibility among work colleagues and guests who visit you at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that an organised environment improves productivity, reduces stress and encourages responsibility. You address both home and workplace settings, and the office-document example gives relevant support for the efficiency point. The stress and responsibility paragraphs also explain why tidiness matters, so the response develops its main ideas rather than merely listing them. To strengthen the response further, make the examples more specific and extend the less-developed claims: for instance, explain how a tidy home or desk reduces stress in a particular situation. The point that neatness signals responsibility is relevant, but could be linked more directly to its practical effects. Overall, the task is addressed with a consistent opinion and supported reasons, though some claims remain broad.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear structure: an introduction states your view, three body paragraphs each develop a reason, and the conclusion restates the main benefits. This gives the reader a logical progression from efficiency to reduced stress and responsibility. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “In contrast,” and “Overall” help signal relationships between ideas, while the repeated focus on home and work keeps the discussion on track. To make the flow more flexible, avoid relying on similar paragraph openings such as “One of the major advantage” and “Another importance.” You could also connect the examples more explicitly to the claims they illustrate. The organisation is consistently clear, although some transitions and references could be smoother and less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “productivity,” “disorganized,” “orderliness,” “mentally exhausting,” and “professionalism.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and some less common terms show an effort to be precise. However, several expressions are repetitive or not quite natural, such as “deep sense of responsibility,” “everything are kept in order,” and “appears to be neat.” There is also a spelling error in “accesed.” Greater variety in describing organisation and its effects would improve flexibility, while checking collocations and spelling would make the wording more accurate. Your vocabulary is sufficient for the task, but it does not yet show consistently natural, precise control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and contrast structures: “When things are properly kept and arranged appropriately, it saves time” and “In contrast, when everything are kept in order…” The overall meaning remains clear, and several sentences are controlled. Some agreement and sentence-level errors persist, however. For example, “clean surroundings and proper organization of items increases” should use a plural verb, and “One of the major advantage” needs a plural noun. In “when everything are kept,” the verb should agree with the singular pronoun; “a guest visit” also requires agreement. Review subject–verb agreement and noun forms, and vary sentence patterns more confidently. These errors are noticeable but rarely prevent understanding.
