Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my interest in a job that was posted in an Australian magazine. I am willing to take care of your six-year-old kid because I am in the same professional since past 6 years. Currently, I am working as a caretaker in old-aged home at wellington center and my contract for this job is about to end this month, so I would be able to start working for you from next month.

I am very suitable candidate for this job because my education background is in the same field so I would be able to take care of kids in a better way. Furthermore, working in this professions for 6 years taught me how to deal with difficult situations.

I would prefer to go for a short walk with my dogs in free time. I love to socialize with people so usually I choose public parks and garden where I get an opportunity to meet wonderful people. I love to watch movies and play indoor games with my cousins. It refreshes my mind and give me an extra energy to work.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Kind regards,

Vaibhav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in the position, describe relevant work and education, and outline activities you would enjoy in Australia. The details about your six years of care work and your contract ending soon make your availability clear. However, the suitability point is less fully developed: experience in an aged-care home does not by itself show how you would care for a six-year-old, and you do not give a specific example of working with children. Your free-time plans are relevant, but could be connected more clearly to life in Australia. Develop these points with concrete examples, such as childcare responsibilities or activities you hope to explore locally.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: the opening states your purpose, the next paragraph explains your suitability, and the final main paragraph describes your free-time interests. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “so” help show relationships between ideas, and the closing is appropriate. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some flexibility in connecting information. To make progression more consistently smooth, ensure each paragraph develops one clear point and use references that are precise. For example, “this professions” does not clearly refer back to your care work, and the shift from walking your dogs to meeting people in parks could be linked more explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including job-related terms such as “caretaker,” “education background,” and “difficult situations,” as well as leisure activities. Some wording is imprecise or unnatural, however, which limits the clarity and flexibility of your vocabulary. “Same professional” is not the natural expression for having experience in a field, and “old-aged home” is an inaccurate collocation. “Kid” is understandable but less suitable than a more courteous term in a formal letter to prospective employers. Aim to learn common word partnerships and choose vocabulary that fits the context; this will make your meaning more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a sentence with “because” and one joined with “so,” and the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, but they generally do not prevent communication. For example, “I am in the same professional since past 6 years” has problems with tense and sentence construction; “this professions” has a number-agreement error; and “It refreshes my mind and give me” does not maintain subject–verb agreement. There are also missing or incorrect articles and prepositions in phrases such as “in free time.” Review present perfect forms for continuing experience, singular/plural agreement, and article use, then proofread each sentence for these patterns.
