Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining why you want the job, detailing your suitability, and describing your free-time activities. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, while you mention you have experience in cooking and childcare, these points are not fully elaborated upon to make a compelling case for your candidacy. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'This job is very helpful for me.' To improve, try to provide more specific examples of your past childcare experience or specific skills that would benefit the family.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use basic paragraphing to separate the different requirements of the task. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, you rely heavily on simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of varied linking words to connect your ideas smoothly. Phrases like 'This job' are repeated frequently, which makes the flow feel a bit repetitive. Using a wider range of transition words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'in addition') would help improve the logical flow between your sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific vocabulary such as 'advertisement,' 'experience,' and 'application.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'learns experince' instead of 'gain experience' and 'dishes server to your family' instead of 'dishes served to your family.' The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and adjectives to describe your skills and interests.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I am writing to about apply,' 'I am speak two languages,' and 'I look forward to hearring from soon.' These errors, including issues with verb forms, prepositions, and spelling (e.g., 'hearring,' 'Austraila'), are noticeable. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall clarity of your writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
