Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: reasons for wanting the job, suitability, and plans for free time. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the ideas. The content is quite brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully develop the points. For instance, the explanation of how you would spend your free time is vague and repetitive. To improve, you should expand on your experiences and provide more specific examples of your childcare skills and your interests in Australia to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into short paragraphs, which is appropriate for this task type. However, the flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed. While you use some transition words like 'Furthermore' and 'Eventually', the logical progression between sentences is occasionally weak. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'what things they are very enjoyable', which makes the meaning difficult to follow. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence clearly links to the next would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple structures to convey meaning. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'I like the job as i completed my early childhood assistance program' and 'what things they are very enjoyable'. The use of 'children’s' instead of 'children' is a recurring error. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including more precise terms related to childcare and professional communication, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'mostly my free time I play', and incorrect sentence structures, such as 'when I will in Australia'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and the use of capital letters for the pronoun 'I'. The range of grammatical structures is limited to simple sentences. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent use of verb tenses and articles.
