Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my interest in the work as an full time babysitter for the duration of six months.

I would like to mention that I not only pursued my studies in the field of Early Childhood Educator but also have two years experience at daycare. Furthermore, I incredibly like to watch children being around me and love to support them in their daily developments and challenges.

As I mentioned you above about my experience and keen interest in this job. Additionally, Currently I am looking for the full time working availability. I would appreciate if you could give me a chance to show my abilities.

Nowadays, in the leisure time, I often make videos and blogs which are useful for the parents who have kids and facing difficult problems in tackling challenges such as how to influence children about moral lessons by games and daily activities which not only build their cognitive skills but also makes them social and economical fit. Hence, children can learn plenty of things with this. It vary from age to age.

I would really appreciate it if you could give me a chance for this opportunity. Thankyou for your time and consideration. I am looking for your prompt response.

your faithfully,

Divya.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explained your interest in the role, provided details about your background in early childhood education, and described your leisure activities. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. The section regarding your free time is slightly confusing, as you focus more on your professional blogging activities rather than how you would spend your leisure time specifically while living in Australia. To improve, ensure that each bullet point is clearly linked to the context of the job and the location mentioned in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Additionally', and 'Hence' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'As I mentioned you above about my experience', which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more refined to ensure a smoother progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cognitive skills', 'development', and 'consideration'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'economical fit' (likely meaning 'socially and economically well-adjusted') and 'influence children about moral lessons'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word formation, such as 'full time working availability'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are natural and contextually accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I incredibly like to watch children being around me', 'It vary from age to age', and 'your faithfully'. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the letter. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of adverbs and prepositions.
