Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my desire to work at your place after reading an advertisement in the publication.
First of all, since I lived in a joint family, I was missing the warmth and everyday environment in a house. Additionally, I loved to be around toddlers, who makes me happy after coming from hectic schedule of daily life.
In the home country, I was employed at early childcare center for a few years. Therefore, I have learned skills of handling and providing nutritional food to children. Additionally, I established myself as one of the best tutors to take care a unhealthy child with a care, which require a great level of patience.
After migrating to Australia, I often spend my leisure time playing sports or surfing in a sea. However, with your family I like to play some indoor games such as chess which helps to enhance mental ability think constructively in youngsters.
I have attached my resume. Please feel free to contact me you require anything else from my side.
Kind regards,
Dhruvish Panchal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You explained your motivation for wanting the position, provided relevant background regarding your childcare experience, and described how you would spend your leisure time. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of application. However, some ideas could be more fully developed to reach a higher band. For instance, while you mention your childcare experience, providing a specific example of a task you managed would strengthen your suitability. The response is well-structured and clearly communicates your intent to the parents, meeting the requirements of the task successfully.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Additionally', and 'Therefore' to link your sentences. However, the use of these devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try to vary your transitions and ensure that the flow between sentences feels more natural. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is coherent, making the letter easy to read and understand throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hectic schedule', 'nutritional food', and 'constructively'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'work at your place' (better: 'work for your family') and 'take care a unhealthy child' (better: 'care for an unwell child'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. You have successfully used some less common items, but further refinement in collocations would help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'who makes me happy' (should be 'who make me happy' to agree with 'toddlers') and 'require a great level of patience' (should be 'requires'). Additionally, there are minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in a sea' (should be 'in the sea'). Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not significantly interfere with the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
