Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining the motivation for the job, detailing suitability, and describing plans for free time. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why you would be a suitable person is repetitive, focusing heavily on 'education' and 'training' without providing specific examples of past experience with children. The section on free time is also quite brief. To improve, you should expand on your qualifications with concrete examples and provide more descriptive details about your interests or specific places you hope to visit in Australia to make your letter more engaging and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter follows a logical structure, moving from the purpose of the email to your qualifications and finally to your personal plans. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and limited. Transitions like 'To begin with' and 'Apart from this' are used, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs is often disjointed. The paragraphing is also insufficient; the entire body of the letter is contained in one large block, which makes it harder to read. Using clear paragraph breaks for each distinct point would significantly improve the overall organization and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly. You use some relevant terms such as 'child care', 'health and safety', and 'clear record'. However, the range is limited, and there are some awkward word choices, such as 'taking with to have their ideas' and 'visiting a profound places'. The word 'profound' is misused here; a more appropriate term would be 'iconic' or 'notable'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to childcare and personal interests, and pay closer attention to collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'came across advertisement'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'taking with to have'), and punctuation errors, such as the inconsistent use of capitalization for 'i'. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack necessary prepositions. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic sentence construction and article usage.
