Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt, which is a positive start. You explained your motivation, your suitability, and your plans for free time. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the section on how you would spend your free time is quite brief and focuses more on household chores than on leisure activities or exploring Australia, which was the core of the prompt. To improve, ensure that each bullet point is fully expanded with specific details to demonstrate a more comprehensive response to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure, and the use of paragraphs is appropriate for a formal letter. You use some cohesive devices such as 'moreover' and 'on the other hand' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing your career goals to household chores lacks a smooth connection. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help to elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors. For example, 'kin on caring people' should be 'keen on caring for people', and 'This is fascinated me' should be 'This has fascinated me'. Additionally, 'credit score' is likely misused here, as it usually refers to financial history rather than professional experience. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate for a formal application letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. You have issues with verb tenses ('I have came across' should be 'I have come across') and sentence structure ('I have experience in personal support worker' should be 'I have experience as a personal support worker'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they often contain errors in subject-verb agreement or preposition usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and article usage.
