Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter in regards of job application at your house. I saw your job posting in an Australian magazine about babysitting work.
Currently I am on my summer break, I have plenty of time to involve in any work even though I am living near to your apartment, so it would be extremely convient for me to travel. In addition, this job will provides me sufficient amount of money to purchase my new musical instrument for my forthcoming term.
As I am living in huge family, I known the majority of things about young children and their behaviour as well as needs. Moreover my two young brothers are five-year-old, as my parents are operating restaurants. Thus, they donot get adequate time to do caring of my brothers, so I am the only one who is responsible for parenting. Therefore, it work is extremely suitable for me.
In my spare time, I am exploring the cities in Austalia and attempt to try various food items. Apart from this I participated in sport activities.
Yours faithfully,
Piyush

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your motivation, detailing your suitability, and describing your plans for free time. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your experience with your brothers, the explanation of your 'parenting' responsibilities is slightly unclear and could be more professionally articulated to highlight your childcare skills. To reach a higher band, ensure that your reasons for wanting the job and your suitability are linked more explicitly to the specific needs of a six-year-old child.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore' to connect your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between your living situation and your motivation for the job could be more fluid. The use of referencing is generally clear, though the structure of the final paragraph is a bit abrupt. Overall, the message is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'forthcoming term' and 'adequate time'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'in regards of' (should be 'in regard to'), 'convient' (spelling error: 'convenient'), and 'do caring of' (should be 'caring for'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over common collocations and spelling. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific terms related to childcare would also improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I known' (should be 'I know'), 'this job will provides' (should be 'will provide'), and 'donot' (should be 'do not'). Additionally, the phrase 'I am living in huge family' lacks the necessary article ('a huge family'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
