Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the reason for applying, suitability, and free-time plans. However, the development of these points is quite limited. For example, the mention of 'RECA' and 'Hanson college' is vague, and the explanation of how you would spend your free time is brief. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more specific details or examples. The tone is also slightly inconsistent for a formal letter to a family, as some phrasing feels a bit unnatural or overly simplistic. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of information provided is minimal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'However'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly misused, such as starting a sentence with 'However' when there is no clear contrast intended. Additionally, the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel a bit abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'do this job', 'entertaining', and 'things to do'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'writing letter in the connection of applying a job' and 'had been done a study'. To improve, you should focus on using more natural collocations and a wider range of vocabulary related to childcare and professional applications. For instance, instead of 'do this job', you could use 'undertake this role' or 'fulfill these responsibilities'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, particularly with verb tenses and article usage. Examples include 'I had been done a study' (should be 'I have completed a course') and 'As I am nature loving person' (missing an article: 'a nature-loving person'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the comma placement in 'dear, Sir' and 'However, As I am'. Focusing on basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement will help reduce these errors and improve clarity.
