Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining the motivation for the job, detailing suitability, and describing free-time activities. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and simplistic. While the candidate provides a personal anecdote about caring for their sister's children, the explanation of why they want the job is quite brief and relies on general statements about their parents. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the lack of a formal closing (e.g., 'Yours faithfully') is a minor omission. To improve, the candidate should expand on their experiences and provide more specific details to better persuade the parents.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'Therefor' and 'Instead' is somewhat awkward, and the transition between ideas within paragraphs is often abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I knew about them when they hungry', which makes the flow of information difficult to follow. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the logical progression of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey ideas with precision. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'conserdation' (consideration), 'bussiness' (business), and 'wander' (used incorrectly for 'wandering'). The candidate relies on simple, everyday language, and there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated vocabulary suitable for a formal application. To reach a higher band, the candidate needs to focus on accurate spelling and expanding their range of vocabulary related to childcare and personal interests.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The writing contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('I am a good in this job'), article usage, and sentence structure ('I used to reading books'). The use of 'u' instead of 'you' is inappropriate for a formal letter. While the candidate attempts some complex sentences, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. A stronger focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors is essential for improvement.
