IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You have seen an advertisement in an Australian magazine for someone to live with a family for six months and look after their six-year-old child.

Write a letter to the parents. In your letter

• explain why you would like the job
• give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ
• say how you would spend your free time while you are in Australia

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

I am writing in response to your advertisement in an Australian magazine regarding the position of looking after your six-year-old child for six months.

I would like to apply for this job because I really enjoy spending time with children and taking care of them. It would also give me a great opportunity to experience life in Australia and learn more about its culture.

I believe I would be suitable for this job because I am a responsible, patient and caring person. I have experience looking after my younger cousins, so I understand how to take care of children and keep them engaged in different activities.

In my free time, I would like to explore nearby places and learn more about Australian culture. I would also enjoy visiting local parks and trying different Australian foods.

I would be grateful if you could consider my application. I look forward to hearing from you.
