Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining the motivation, detailing suitability, and describing free-time plans. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The explanation of suitability is brief, and the description of free-time activities is vague and lacks detail. Because the response fails to meet the length requirement, the development of ideas is insufficient to reach a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your nursing experience and provide more specific, engaging details about how you intend to spend your time in Australia, such as visiting local landmarks or participating in community activities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, but the flow is disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas smoothly. For example, the transition between your background and your application is abrupt. The use of punctuation is inconsistent, with many sentences starting with lowercase letters, which disrupts the logical progression of the text. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that ideas follow a logical sequence from your introduction to your closing statement.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple structures to convey information. While the meaning is generally clear, there is a lack of variety and precision. Phrases like 'doing job' and 'gain my knowledge' are unnatural and demonstrate limited control over collocations. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'fild' instead of 'field' and 'india' instead of 'India'. To improve, try to incorporate more specific professional terminology related to your nursing background and use a wider range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs to make your letter more engaging and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the overall quality of the writing. There are consistent issues with capitalization (e.g., 'india', 'ahmedabad'), subject-verb agreement, and tense usage (e.g., 'I am currently live' instead of 'I currently live'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after periods and inconsistent use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring proper capitalization, and practicing the use of complex sentences to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
