You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to enquire about the job advertisement you placed in a local magazine for a live-in babysitter.
I am interested to apply for this job since I believe I am a suitable candidate for it. I am moving to Australia next month to attend a six-month part-time early childhood education program and am therefore looking for a job and an accommodation.
Not only do I have three years of full-time experience in childcare, but I also take care of my niece as we live in a joint family. While I get an opportunity to stay at your home, I can look after your child as well with love and care.
Although I plan to visit some of my relatives during my free time after studies and work, I would be happy to assist you with other household chores as well if needed, since I do not mind doing housework when we live together as a family.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Kind Regards,
Rashpal Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for the job, provide relevant details about your childcare experience, and outline your plans for free time. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to potential employers. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, ensuring the reader understands your situation and suitability. You have maintained a consistent focus throughout the response, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the opening paragraph. No further development is needed as all requirements of the task have been met effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your narrative easily. You use appropriate cohesive devices such as 'Not only... but also', 'Although', and 'therefore' to link your sentences and ideas. The paragraphing is used effectively to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion. The flow of information is smooth, and the use of referencing is clear throughout the text. There is no evidence of mechanical or repetitive transitions, making the letter easy to read and understand.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning with precision. Phrases such as 'enquire about', 'suitable candidate', and 'early childhood education program' are used accurately. While the vocabulary is functional and appropriate for the task, it lacks a high degree of sophistication or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the score to the highest bands. However, there are no errors in word choice or collocation that impede communication. The language is natural and fits the context of a formal application letter well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
You use a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the conditional and concessive clauses used in the third and fourth paragraphs. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation and verb tenses is strong. There are no significant grammatical errors that cause confusion. While your sentence structures are generally accurate, incorporating a slightly wider variety of complex grammatical forms (such as passive voice or more advanced relative clauses) could further enhance the quality of your writing. Overall, your control is consistent and reliable.
