Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for wanting the job, provide relevant personal attributes that make you a suitable candidate, and describe your plans for your leisure time in Australia. The tone is appropriate for a formal application letter. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific examples of your childcare experience, such as mentioning a previous role or a specific activity you have led, which would further develop your ideas and make your application more persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each prompt requirement, and a formal closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate different ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'During my leisure time' to link your points. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother. At times, the connection between sentences feels slightly mechanical, but the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'responsibility', 'educational', and 'interactions'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'opportunitiy', 'Asutralian', 'oragnising', 'preapre', and 'tranditional', which detract from the overall quality. Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'my personal rewarding' instead of 'personally rewarding'. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and expanding your use of collocations related to childcare and professional applications to demonstrate more precision and flexibility in your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('help them' should be 'helping them') and minor errors with articles and prepositions ('explore Australian's natural beauty' should be 'explore Australia's natural beauty'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on ensuring consistent verb forms and correct article usage. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences would also help demonstrate better control over your grammatical range.
