Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state your motivation for the job, provide relevant qualifications (Early Childhood Assistant studies and five years of experience), and outline your plans for free time in Australia. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, while you mention your experience, providing a specific example of a task you have performed with children would have strengthened your candidacy. The response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Also' to transition between ideas. While these are functional, the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is clear and appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the connection between sentences is more fluid. Overall, the information is easy to follow, and the progression of ideas is logical throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'express my enthusiasm' and 'earliest convenience' are appropriate for a formal letter. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'child care taker' (should be 'childcare provider' or 'nanny') and 'offspring' (which is usually too clinical or biological in this context; 'children' is more natural). You also use 'have eager to learn', which is grammatically incorrect. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring precise word usage would help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the letter, such as 'I also have eager to learn' (should be 'I am eager to learn') and 'will response me' (should be 'will respond to me'). Additionally, the sentence 'whether I will go to explore... or will experience' is structurally awkward. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms will significantly improve your accuracy.
