Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Madam,
I am writing this letter to inform you that i saw a endorsement that you publish related to job for baby sitting.
I became very excited when i saw that ad in magazine, I cogitate that i am suitable person for this job as i love playing with babies. Side by side, i can understand their needs and things which makes it easier for me to look after them. As, i easily adapt a new environment which is helpful for to adjust with family and child while living with them.
I have a great experience of baby sitting in a daycare for 1 year. where i daily deals with 5-10 babies. I also have a 12 year Younger brother, I also raise him. So far i already knew how to do this job perfectly without any complications.
Well, i love exploring new countries ,meeting new people. well, when i will have free time i will surely visit some well known places of Australia. Additionally, i will learn some new skills online so that i can also become good in other fields.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining the motivation for the job, detailing suitability, and describing plans for free time. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening and closing salutations are slightly inconsistent with the prompt's instructions. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the points could be more sophisticated. For instance, the explanation of why you are suitable could be expanded with more specific examples of childcare duties beyond just mentioning a younger brother. Overall, the task is fully addressed, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'well', 'additionally', 'side by side'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, such as the jump between discussing your brother and stating you know how to do the job. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would help the flow of the text significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'endorsement' instead of 'advertisement' and 'cogitate' which is too formal and incorrectly used in this context. Phrases like 'daily deals with' and 'raise him' are functional but basic. To improve, you should focus on using more natural collocations related to childcare and professional applications. Spelling errors, such as 'i' instead of 'I' and 'your faithfully' instead of 'Yours faithfully', also detract from the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'things which makes it easier'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'i already knew'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the capitalization of the pronoun 'I'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, such as consistent capitalization and correct verb forms, will lead to a higher band score.
