Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your motivation, detailing your suitability, and describing your plans for free time. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For example, while you mention your experience with your sisters, you could have elaborated more on specific responsibilities you handled to make your application more persuasive. The letter covers the requirements well, but the depth of information provided is limited, which prevents it from reaching the highest band levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'During my free time' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor errors in punctuation and sentence structure. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother with a more varied use of linking words. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, which helps the reader follow your points easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly. You use relevant terms like 'volunteering', 'development', and 'communication skills'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'a elder brother' (should be 'an elder brother') and 'perfect for this posting' (should be 'perfect for this position'). You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise adjectives and varied verbs to describe your experiences and intentions, which would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an ability to use both simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I am writing this letter to apply for a position you mentioned in Australian magazine' (missing articles), 'i am keenly interested to spend' (should be 'in spending'), and 'I look forward to hear' (should be 'to hearing'). Additionally, the inconsistent capitalization of the pronoun 'I' and minor errors in subject-verb agreement occur. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit your score in this criterion.
