Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation, provide relevant experience, and outline your plans for free time. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening 'Dear sir' is slightly inconsistent with the instruction to begin with 'Dear Sir or Madam'. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that all instructions regarding formatting are followed precisely and consider expanding slightly on the 'why' behind your suitability to provide a more persuasive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each addressing a specific bullet point. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'such as', which help the flow of ideas. However, the transition between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is clear throughout the letter. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'that assist me') is grammatically precise to avoid ambiguity.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'plethora', 'inner satisfaction', and 'leisure activities'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'teach few exercise' (should be 'teach a few exercises') and 'communicate with child' (should be 'communicate with children'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on accurate collocations and using more varied, topic-specific vocabulary would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I get opportunity' (missing article 'an'), '2 year experience' (should be 'two years of experience'), and 'help child to learn' (should be 'help the child'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some minor errors in sentence construction. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and pluralization. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help you move toward a higher band.
