Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing regarding the job which was posted on the Australia magazine about living with the family and taking care of their six year old child. I like the job because I don’t have to arrange where i will live. I reject many job offers because of the housing problem as it is not easy to find a house in a new area.
Moreover, I used to be a kindergarten teacher in my local school but it was closed recently. Since then i am working in a child care facility. But i have to travel too much. I am very good with kids and you can also check my references to make sure you're kid will in safe hands.
Lastly, i like to travel and Australia is a beautiful country. So when i will have free time i will just go to near by beach, park or do some fun activities while i will be there.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Kind regards
Shubhkaran Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining your motivation, highlighting your suitability, and describing your plans for free time. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, your explanation of why you want the job focuses heavily on housing rather than an interest in the child or the cultural experience. To reach a higher band, try to expand on your suitability by mentioning specific skills or experiences with children, and provide more detailed, engaging plans for your free time in Australia beyond just visiting a park or beach.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Lastly', and 'Since then' to connect your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally imprecise (e.g., 'the job which was posted on the Australia magazine'). To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to their intended nouns to create a smoother, more natural progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message clearly. You use relevant terms like 'kindergarten teacher', 'child care facility', and 'references'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'on the Australia magazine' (should be 'in an Australian magazine') and 'housing problem' (which sounds slightly unnatural in this context). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated adjectives or adverbs would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Australia magazine'), subject-verb agreement ('you're kid will in safe hands'), and capitalization ('i' should always be capitalized). Additionally, there are some tense inconsistencies, such as 'Since then i am working' (should be 'I have been working'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic punctuation and subject-verb agreement.
