Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You explain your motivation, highlight your suitability through your degree and internship, and outline your leisure plans. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention your internship, you could have provided more specific examples of your experience with children to make your application more compelling. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the inconsistency between the name 'John' in the body and 'Neha Dhingra' in the sign-off is a significant oversight that affects the professional presentation of the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each addressing a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'thereby' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as the awkward phrasing 'thereby, I am really in need of a job.' Additionally, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is clear, but the overall flow is occasionally interrupted by minor errors in punctuation and sentence structure, which prevents a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vacancy,' 'internship,' and 'academic and social pursuits.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'get mingle with children' is incorrect; it should be 'mingle with children.' Similarly, 'having a culture exposure' is unnatural and should be 'to experience the culture.' These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited control over more sophisticated lexical items, keeping the score in the mid-range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'I am writing this letter in response to the vacancy of a care taker that you are looking for' (redundant 'that you are looking for'), 'As ,I have a degree' (incorrect comma placement), and 'a A positive response' (capitalization error). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and eliminating redundant phrasing.
