Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt. The writer explains their interest in the job by stating they are 'keen interested' and a certified healthcare aide, details their suitability through relevant caregiving experience and domestic duties, and mentions how they plan to spend their free time by visiting parks, libraries, the gym, and cinemas. However, the tone fluctuates slightly towards the end with informal phrases like 'Take care' and the sign-off 'skr', which detracts from the formal convention of a letter starting with 'Dear Sir or Madam'. Furthermore, some ideas are presented simply without deeper elaboration. Therefore, the response fulfills the task requirements reasonably well, earning a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter exhibits a coherent overall arrangement, and information is generally logically sequenced. The writer moves from stating the purpose of the letter to qualifications and duties, and finally to leisure activities and contact information. However, paragraphing is poorly managed, as the entire body of the letter is compressed into a single, dense block of text, making it harder to follow. Cohesive devices are also limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., overusing 'and' and commas in lists such as 'cooking food, wash laundry, helping in shower, shopping, taking care of medicines, etc.'). Referencing is mostly clear, but the lack of paragraph breaks limits the coherence and lowers the score for this criterion to Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, though it contains notable spelling errors and limitations. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'proffesonial health care aid', 'induvidual', and 'leasure', but these contain spelling mistakes. Other vocabulary choices are basic or slightly unnatural, such as 'keen interested' instead of 'keenly interested', and 'wash laundry' instead of 'do the laundry'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the persistent spelling and word-choice errors place this response at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the relative clause in 'parks in evening to meet elder people feeling alone'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and agreement issues like 'i recently seen a advertisment' and 'you need a induvidual'. There are also problems with parallel structure in lists, such as 'cook food, wash laundry, helping in shower'. Punctuation is faulty in places, notably with missing capitalisation for pronouns and proper nouns like 'i' and 'australia'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, leading to a Band 5.0 for grammatical range and accuracy.
