Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all bullet points outlined in the task instructions. You clearly explain why you would like the job by stating you are interested in the live-in childcare position. You provide appropriate details of your suitability, mentioning your caring nature, patience, and ability to help with daily activities and prepare simple meals. Furthermore, you adequately describe how you would spend your free time by mentioning exploring the local area, learning about Australian culture, and enjoying hobbies such as reading and walking. The tone of the letter is polite and appropriate for a formal application. All parts of the prompt are addressed with relevant and well-developed ideas, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. You have used an appropriate formal greeting ('Dear Sir') and sign-off ('Yours faithfully, Taslim'). Paragraphing is utilised effectively, with each body paragraph dedicated to a distinct aspect of the prompt: explaining the application, detailing suitability, and describing free time. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'I am also' help to connect ideas, although some punctuation spacing issues (such as missing spaces after commas and periods, for example in 'Moreover , I am willing' and 'Australia. I would') slightly affect the visual flow. Overall, the arrangement is coherent and easy to follow, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your lexical range is adequate for the task. You have successfully incorporated vocabulary related to employment and caregiving, such as 'position', 'childcare helper', 'caring and responsible nature', and 'daily activities'. However, there are some minor spelling and lexical errors, such as 'advertismenr' instead of 'advertisement', 'bellieve' with an extra letter, and 'responible' missing a 'n'. Despite these occasional slips, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly without impeding communication, representing a solid Band 6.0 standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing in response to the advertisement...' and 'I would be grateful if you could consider my application.' There is good control over verb tenses and modal verbs like 'would' and 'can'. However, punctuation and spacing errors are frequent throughout the text, such as missing spaces after periods and commas, and capitalisation issues like 'Druring'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the grammar and mechanics from reaching a higher band. The presence of these recurrent mechanical slips places this response firmly at Band 6.0.
