Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points from the prompt effectively. You explained why you would like the job by mentioning your interest in exploring cultures and learning English. You also provided details of why you would be suitable, highlighting your experience living in a joint family with small toddlers, along with your tidiness and willingness to assist with household duties and homework. Furthermore, you briefly touched upon how you would spend your free time, aligning well with the overall context. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to parents. Overall, the ideas are sufficiently developed for a short general task, satisfying the requirements of a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a clear overall arrangement and follows standard letter-writing conventions with a formal opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, such as your motivation for the job, your background with children, and your tidiness. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, sentences in the second paragraph are run together without proper punctuation or conjunctions (e.g., 'not only I can able to practice'). Referencing and transitions between ideas could be smoother to ensure a more natural progression throughout the response. This places the performance firmly at a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message about childcare and cultural exchange. You use some relevant terms like 'caretaker', 'traditions', 'household activities', and 'homework'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as writing 'in an magazine' instead of 'in a magazine' and describing yourself as 'calm and patience person' instead of a 'patient person'. You also rely on fairly basic vocabulary. To reach higher bands, you would need to incorporate a wider range of less common lexical items with greater precision and fewer collocation slips, making a Band 5.5 appropriate here.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors in grammar and word order, particularly the fragment 'not only I can able to practice English' which contains structural and modal verb errors. Additionally, you wrote 'there were a lot of small toddler lived around me' instead of 'toddlers' and 'lived'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the score from rising higher. Punctuation is also occasionally lacking between clauses. These features correspond to a Band 5.5 descriptor.
