Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all three bullet points from the prompt: you explain why you would like the job, give details of your suitability as an early childhood educator, and mention your free-time activities like painting and exploring Australia. However, the response falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum requirement, containing only 121 words. Because of this under-length penalty, the task cannot be fully developed. To achieve a higher band score in Task Achievement, you must ensure that you write at least the minimum word count and expand further on each of the required bullet points with more supporting details and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

Your letter attempts to group ideas into logical paragraphs corresponding to the introduction, your professional background, and your personal interests. However, the paragraphing is somewhat fragmented, with several very short, isolated sentences and incomplete paragraphs. Cohesive devices are minimal, and there are mechanical errors in punctuation, such as missing spaces after periods and commas, for example in 'well.I saw' and 'child.I am'. Additionally, the informal sign-off lacks proper spacing and capitalization. For a higher band score, you need to use a wider range of cohesive links, structure your paragraphs more cohesively, and pay closer attention to basic punctuation and formatting.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

You demonstrate an adequate vocabulary to communicate your basic meaning, using relevant terms like 'advertisement', 'opportunity', and 'early childhood educator'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, including 'atlesst' instead of 'at least', 'intrested' instead of 'interested', 'fo`r' containing an extraneous character, 'proffesionally' instead of 'professionally', 'carrier' instead of 'career', 'diffrent' instead of 'different', and 'austaikia' instead of 'Australia'. These lexical errors and typos restrict your score. To improve, you should incorporate a more varied range of less common vocabulary and carefully proofread your writing to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter includes a mix of simple and attempting complex sentence forms, such as 'whenever i have free time i start doing paintings.' However, grammatical accuracy is heavily affected by frequent punctuation errors, lowercase 'i' pronouns, and sentence fragments, such as starting a sentence with a dependent clause like 'Being an early child hood educator.' followed by a full stop. There are also tense and agreement issues, such as 'a urgent job opportunity'. While your meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, the frequency of basic mechanical and grammatical slips prevents you from reaching a higher band score. You should practice writing complete sentences and checking your work for capitalization and punctuation.
