Dear Sir or Madam,

I am an educator practising in India. This letter is an application for your advertisement in an Australian Magazine to care for your six-year-old child and stay with your family for six months.

The ajor reason to consider this employment is that I will get a chance to spend some time with a native Australian family. While living in this country I will not only improve my english language proficiency but also learn about your traditions, culture and values.

Being an Early Childhood Educator for 5 years now I learned patienece and to be creative at all times. I can help your child in his homework, engaging him in physical and mental activities. Moreover, I can also assist you with some household tasks whenever you need.

Lastly, I would like to visit the art galleries, museums and local town centres to enjoy my leisure time there. By doing this I will not only get knowledge about the history but will also explore the nearby areas to collect memories.

I hope you would consider me as a suitable applicant for this job. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The candidate has successfully addressed all bullet points outlined in the task instructions. The response clearly explains the motivation for wanting the job, specifically mentioning the desire to live with an Australian family to improve English and learn about the local culture. Suitability is well established by detailing the candidate's professional background as an Early Childhood Educator for five years, along with practical ways they can assist with the child and household tasks. Furthermore, the letter appropriately outlines how free time would be spent visiting art galleries, museums, and local town centres. The tone is polite, formal, and appropriate for a job application letter. All requirements of the prompt are covered well, with relevant ideas logically developed throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression from introduction to conclusion. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: introduction of purpose, reasons for applying, personal suitability, and plans for leisure time. The candidate makes good use of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Lastly', and 'By doing this' to guide the reader through the text. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with clear spacing separating the different ideas. Referencing is generally clear and straightforward, ensuring the message flows smoothly without causing confusion for the reader. Overall, the structural framework of the letter supports clear and effective communication.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

The candidate demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision appropriate for a general task. Words and phrases such as 'educator', 'proficiency', 'leisure time', and 'collect memories' indicate an adequate and functional lexical resource. There are a few minor lexical slips, such as 'major' being misspelled as 'ajor' in the second paragraph, and 'patienece' containing a typo. However, these errors do not impede communication. The use of less common items like 'engage' and 'assist' shows an awareness of style and collocation suitable for a Band 6.5 or 7 level descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0

The writing contains a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, demonstrating control over grammatical forms. Examples of complex structures include 'While living in this country I will not only improve my english language proficiency but also learn about your traditions...' and 'Being an Early Childhood Educator for 5 years now I learned patience...'. There are a few minor grammatical and mechanical errors, such as missing commas after introductory participial phrases, spelling errors like 'patienece', and a missing comma before 'engaging him'. Despite these occasional errors, the majority of sentences are clear and error-free, and communication is never impeded.
