Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully covered all parts of the prompt by explaining why you want the job, detailing your suitability as a mother and childcare course graduate, and describing your plans for your free time in Australia. Your purpose is clear and the tone is appropriate for an application letter. However, the response sits at this level because some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, while your childcare background is well-explained, your plans for your free time in exploring the country and graduating are somewhat general and briefly stated. To reach a higher level, you could extend and support these ideas with more specific details about how you plan to balance your studies, leisure time, and childcare responsibilities.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter shows a coherent overall arrangement with a clear beginning and ending, using standard conventions like the required greeting. Paragraphs are used logically to separate the introduction, your qualifications, your future plans, and your closing remarks. Cohesive devices such as "Additionally," "Moreover," and "That is why" are employed to link your ideas together. Nonetheless, some referencing and transitions feel a bit mechanical, and certain sentences do not flow as naturally as they could. To achieve a higher standard, you could employ a wider variety of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure smoother, more subtle transitions between paragraphs to create a seamless progression of ideas throughout the entire letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You used an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to childcare and migration, such as "internship," "practical knowledge," and "parenting techniques." However, the response contains several noticeable lexical and spelling errors that prevent it from reaching a higher band. For example, there are spelling mistakes like "Zamak magazinelast" (magazine last), "tution" (tuition), and "Australlia," as well as word choice and collocation inaccuracies such as "got admission in" instead of "was admitted to" and "accommodate tution fees and a living cost" instead of "cover tuition fees and living costs." To improve, you need to use vocabulary with greater precision, pay closer attention to collocations, and eliminate spelling slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as "When I will stay in Australia..." and phrases showing purpose. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of grammatical lapses include tense usage, such as "When I will stay" instead of "When I stay" or "When I am in Australia," and minor preposition or article issues like "for my Engineering" and "to meet my financial needs and my dreams to fulfill." To move up to the next band, you should incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentences, ensure strict adherence to tense consistency in time clauses, and refine your control over minor grammatical patterns.
