Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to get a job as a care taker of your six year child and living at your house for six months. I am already looking for a part-time job as a nanny so that I can enhance my skills and add this experience in my resume.
Regarding my experience, I am a student of Early Childhood Care course and having six year of experince at child care centre. I am in my final semester, so I have to attend college only for a few hours. After that, I will be free for whole day, and it is easily manageable for me to look after your kid. I can also help you in preparing meals of your child and in child's homework as well.
I would love to explore australian culture in my free time as by visiting local parks, museums and nature reserves. So, that I can have a better overview of the country which will help me to finalize my decision of continue living here.
Please let me know if you need anything else regardimg references and my background check. I will look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully,
Roop

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, covering all bullet points required by the task. You clearly explain why you would like the job by mentioning your desire to gain experience for your resume and enhance your childcare skills. You also provide details regarding your suitability, such as your studies in Early Childhood Care and your prior experience at a childcare centre. Additionally, you describe how you would spend your free time exploring Australian culture through local parks and museums. However, the development of your ideas is uneven; while some points are well covered, the explanation regarding your free time is somewhat brief and could be extended further to achieve a higher level of elaboration. Overall, the information presented is fully relevant and appropriate for a general task of this nature.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure appropriate for formal correspondence. The information is divided into sensible paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing your experience and free time, and a polite concluding paragraph. Cohesive devices are used throughout the text, such as 'Regarding my experience', 'After that', and 'Additionally', although some of these transitional phrases feel a little mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, and the reader can easily follow your progression of ideas from explaining the job application to detailing your background and future plans in Australia. To improve further, you could use a wider variety of cohesive relationships and more subtle referencing to ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating your message about seeking a childcare position. There are some successful attempts at less common and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'Early Childhood Care', 'part-time job', and 'nature reserves'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, form, and collocation. For instance, writing 'care taker of your six year child' contains awkward phrasing and word forms, and 'experince' is misspelled. Other slips, such as 'regardimg', point to spelling inaccuracies. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict your vocabulary score, as more precise word choices and flawless spelling are needed to demonstrate higher-level lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
Your writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that you can handle a variety of structures. For example, you successfully use complex sentences such as 'I am writing this letter to get a job... so that I can enhance my skills' and 'which will help me to finalize my decision'. There are, however, some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation. You miss necessary articles and make errors with prepositions or plurals in phrases like 'six year child', 'for whole day', and 'preparing meals of your child'. Despite these occasional inaccuracies in grammar and punctuation, they rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter.
