Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main parts of the task by explaining why you want the job, providing reasons why you are suitable, and mentioning your plans for free time. However, these ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the explanation of why you would like the job relies on general statements like 'I love this job by my heart' rather than detailed personal motivations connected to the specific advertisement. Similarly, the plans for free time are brief, noting only that you will spend quality time with friends, family, and nature, without linking these activities concretely to your upcoming six-month stay in Australia. To move to a higher level, you should extend and fully support each bullet point with more specific details and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter demonstrates some overall organisation, with a clear beginning, a series of paragraphs dealing with each part of the prompt, and a conventional sign-off. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical. Cohesive devices are used repeatedly or rather simply, such as starting paragraphs with 'Here I have some details' or 'Most importantly'. Additionally, paragraphing and referencing could be managed more smoothly to create a clearer logical flow throughout the letter. To improve, you should try to link sentences and paragraphs using a wider variety of transitional phrases and ensure that referencing words connect ideas seamlessly without drawing attention to themselves.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You make several noticeable lexical and spelling errors that affect precision, such as 'advertisment', 'wounderful', 'herar', 'preform', 'Personly', and 'hopfull'. There are also awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'for the look after of', 'feel like to join you', and 'know you that I am a suitable person'. While your meaning is generally conveyed, these frequent errors in spelling and word choice cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your vocabulary range, use less common lexical items accurately, and carefully check your spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing shows a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex structures that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with verb forms and prepositions, such as 'in response to seen an advertisment', 'for stay of six months', 'why would I like to do this job', and 'I am look forward to answering'. Punctuation and articles also require more careful control, as seen in missing articles and irregular capitalisation. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence patterns, ensuring correct verb tense usage, and reducing recurring grammatical slips.
