Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to the advertisement published in a magazine of Australia for taking care of a child aged six-years.

Looking after a child has been my passion since long-time. I adore kids a lot that's why I want to have this job. As, this is a big responsibilty to take care of someone's child like your own, meanwhile, this gives me a sense of belonging and satisfaction.

Being a Caretaker, I will be the best choice for your child as i will be available 24/7 for your child's need. I know basic cooking and i can prepare the meals for kid. As I posses the necessary experience and skills being an early childhood educator for 2 years in an elementary school. Therefore, I would be able to teach your kid as well while he/she has been taken care of. Moreover, I am really adaptable to different surroundings and I am clean, organized and a calm person.

In my leisure time, I read novels and literature books. Furthermore, I Am fond of spending time with nature and going on morning and evening walks which I can accompany with the kid if you say so.

I would really appreciate for your quick response. Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Yours truly,

Diksha

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points in the task: you explain your interest in caring for children, describe relevant experience and personal qualities, and mention reading and walks as ways to spend your free time. The two years as an early childhood educator and your ability to prepare meals make your suitability more convincing. The response also maintains an appropriate, polite letter format. Some ideas, however, are less fully developed: for example, you could explain what your teaching experience involved or give a specific example of how you would support the child. Your plans for free time are relevant but brief. More detail and a clearer connection between your experience and the family’s needs would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: the opening states its purpose, the following paragraphs cover motivation and suitability, and a separate paragraph describes leisure activities before the closing. This makes the main points easy to locate. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” to connect related ideas. At times, however, the links feel mechanical or the relationships between ideas are unclear. For instance, “As, this is a big responsibility … meanwhile” combines ideas without a clear grammatical or logical connection, and “Therefore” does not smoothly connect the experience to the teaching claim. Use simpler, more precise transitions and make sure each paragraph develops one main point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “early childhood educator,” “adaptable,” and “organized.” There is also some variety in how you describe your motivation and personal qualities. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably unnatural or inaccurate, which limits precision: “passion since long-time,” “adore kids a lot,” “available 24/7 for your child’s need,” and “accompany with the kid” are examples. Spelling and word-form slips such as “responsibilty” and “posses” also affect the impression of control. Aim for natural, professional phrasing suited to a letter to prospective employers, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “while,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Moreover, I am really adaptable to different surroundings and I am clean, organized and a calm person.” However, there are some errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. For example, “As, this is a big responsibility … meanwhile” is not formed as a complete, well-connected sentence; “Looking forward to hear from you” needs a gerund after “to”; and “while he/she has been taken care of” uses an unsuitable passive construction. Review clause boundaries and verb patterns, and vary complex structures while keeping them accurate.
