Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I have come to know that you need someone who can loookafter your six-year-old child. I know it is a demanding job to care for the child who is in his childhood. It is very crucial satge in the life of every child so they should be dealt with great care.
I had done this job of caregiver in different states of America in the last couple of years. I have great experience of caregiving. I also received some nice comments and applaud from many parents, when I was serving in America. So I could be a best candidate for this job.
I love so much this job as I am actually a big fan of children's kind and innocent nature. Time goes very rapidly for me in this job as I love to do my job. If I talk about my free time then I would say there are very beautiful beaaches in the Australia with breathtaking views and majestic scenery. I would love to spend my free time at these soothing and calming beaches. I hope to receive a positive response from your side for this employment opportunity.
Yours sincerely,
Umar

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain your interest in caring for children, describe previous caregiving work in the United States, and mention visiting Australian beaches in your free time. The experience and positive comments from parents are relevant evidence of suitability. However, some points are less fully developed: you do not give a specific example of your childcare skills or explain what activities you would do with the child, and your free-time plan is limited to beaches. The opening also changes the requested “Dear Sir or Madam” to “Dear Madam,” and the letter does not clearly establish that you are responding to the six-month position. Add a concrete example of your experience and make the connection to the advertised role explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the childcare role, presents your experience, then discusses your motivation and free-time plans before closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these topics, and phrases such as “If I talk about my free time” signal a change in focus. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, however. “So I could be a best candidate” follows the praise from parents but does not explain precisely how that feedback demonstrates your suitability. The final paragraph also combines your enthusiasm for the job with your leisure plans, making its focus less clear. Use clearer links between evidence and claims, and consider separating your reasons for applying from your plans outside work.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “caregiver,” “experience,” “breathtaking views,” and “majestic scenery,” so the main ideas are communicated. There are also attempts at less common descriptive language, although some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “applaud” does not fit the intended meaning of praise, “children’s kind and innocent nature” is awkward, and “the Australia” is not the natural name of the country. Spelling errors such as “loookafter,” “satge,” and “beaaches” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than adding several descriptive adjectives; for example, describe your childcare experience and the activities you enjoy in straightforward, idiomatic language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the relative clause in “the child who is in his childhood” and the conditional structure “If I talk about my free time then I would say…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect naturalness. For example, “I had done this job … in the last couple of years” uses an unsuitable tense for experience continuing up to the present; “I could be a best candidate” has an article error; and “I love so much this job” has awkward word order. The sentence about the child being “in his childhood” is also structurally unclear. Practise present perfect forms for experience and check articles, word order, and sentence construction.
