Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I would like to inform you that I recently saw an advertisement on an Australian Magazine, you are looking a employee to take care your family and a six year old kid for half year. I want to express my interest because I already have an experience in this field. Moreover, I have valid certificate to show you my experience in Australia and study level regarding this stream.
I think, I am most suitable person for this job because I am living very close to your home which is very convenient for me and you too. I am a patient responsible and care person. Apart from this, I can help your child to do the home work and able to teach other necessary skills and manners as well as how to make healthy food and organize educational activities.
During my free time I love to explore new places where I can see breathtaking views and visit local museums and learn more about Australian traditions.
Thankyou for considering my application and I look forward to hearing from you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain your interest through your experience, describe qualities and childcare-related skills, and mention exploring places, museums, and Australian traditions in your free time. The suitability section is the most developed, with examples such as helping with homework and organising educational activities. However, some details are unclear or insufficiently supported: “valid certificate” does not identify the qualification, and saying you live “very close to your home” may not fit a six-month stay in Australia. Clarify your relevant childcare experience and qualifications, and explain how your plans for free time relate to living with the family. A more specific account would make the application more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce your interest, explain your suitability, describe your free-time plans, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main points, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Apart from this,” and “During my free time” make the progression easy to follow. This is a coherent arrangement, though some connections feel mechanical, and the opening sentence joins several ideas in a confusing way. The reference to living close to the family also interrupts the logic of applying for a six-month position in Australia. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each paragraph more directly to the purpose of the application to make cohesion more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for childcare and travel, including “patient,” “responsible,” “educational activities,” “breathtaking views,” and “Australian traditions.” These choices help communicate your suitability and interests. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “take care your family,” “a six year old kid,” and “study level regarding this stream.” “Australian Magazine” is also unnecessarily capitalised, while “Thankyou” should be written as two words. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main message, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Choose standard expressions such as “look after your child” and name your qualification directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a sentence listing ways you could support the child. Most of your meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I recently saw an advertisement …, you are looking” incorrectly joins two clauses, and “I am a patient responsible and care person” has problems with article use, punctuation, and adjective form. Other examples include “I have valid certificate” and “able to teach,” where the sentence needs a clearer grammatical structure. Use full stops or a suitable linking word to separate complete ideas, and check articles, verb forms, and sentence completeness. More accurate control of these patterns would make the letter smoother.
