Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have seen your advertisement for a caregiver for your six-year-old child. I am writing to introduce myself and I am willing to do work as a caregiver for your young one. I am the student of Early Education program and I need to complete my practicum for my course. it contains an information about the care which every child needs throughout the day.
I love to spend time with little ones also I did volunteer work at childcare centre. I will provide a reference from my previous work. It demonstrates precise information about my personality and work. Moreover, I am good in words and create a positive learning atmosphere for children.
I prefer to go in playground area. Most of the time I would like to play cricket with my friends. Currently I am planning to explore the different kind of places in Australia.
Thank you for your attention towards this letter. I hope

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that your Early Education studies require a practicum, mention childcare volunteering and a reference, and describe playing cricket and exploring Australia in your free time. These details make the letter relevant and show a clear interest in the position. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, “I am good in words” does not clearly explain a childcare skill, and the reference is mentioned without saying what experience or qualities it confirms. The final sentence, “I hope”, is unfinished, so the letter does not end with a complete request or closing. Add specific examples of your experience with children and finish by inviting the parents to contact you.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a generally coherent order: it introduces your interest and studies, then gives relevant experience and qualities, before describing your free-time plans. Paragraphing helps distinguish these topics, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Currently” guide the reader. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. The shift from your practicum to “it contains an information” leaves the reference of “it” unclear, and the ideas about playgrounds, cricket and exploring Australia are presented without much explanation of how they fit together. The ending also stops abruptly at “I hope”. Use clearer references, develop transitions between related ideas, and include a complete closing sentence to make the progression feel more finished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “caregiver”, “practicum”, “volunteer work” and “learning atmosphere”. There are also attempts to use more specific language about childcare and your plans in Australia. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or unclear, such as “good in words”, “go in playground area” and “attention towards this letter”. “Precise information” is also not an especially clear description of what a reference demonstrates. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the general message, but they limit precision and naturalness. Choose expressions that describe your skills directly, such as communicating well with children, and use conventional phrases for activities and formal correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate through a mixture of simple sentences and some longer structures, including “I am the student of Early Education program and I need to complete my practicum for my course.” The main message is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “it contains an information” has an incorrect article and an unclear sentence structure; “I love to spend time with little ones also I did volunteer work” needs clearer sentence separation; and “I hope” is incomplete. Capitalisation is also inconsistent at the start of “it”. Improve control of articles, sentence boundaries and complete sentence forms, and check that pronouns clearly refer to the intended noun. More accurate complex sentences would make your ideas easier to follow.
