Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my interest for a nanny job that I recently saw in an Australian magazine. My current contract with Verizon resource centre is about to end this month and I am currently looking for the new opportunity.

I am particularly interested in this role because my ambitition is to take care of children in our society. I have done my graduation in Childhood education in 2020 and since then I have been working as a caregiver for Australian family in Sydney. I personally believe that this role aligns to my career goal and suitable to me.

Australia is a beautiful country and I love to visit nearby public places such as gardens, parks and leisure centers to meet local people. I am very social, health concious and passionate for social activities. I love to play outdoor games such as badminton, basketball and cricket. These activities help me to maintain my health.

Please consider my application and let me know if you need any further information for verification. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you

Kind regards,

Vaibhav

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in childcare, mention your education and caregiving experience, and describe activities you would enjoy in Australia. The qualification and work in Sydney are relevant reasons to consider you, while the parks, socialising and sports answer the free-time point. However, the suitability section is less fully developed than the other points: you do not explain what your experience has taught you or how you would care for a six-year-old. The reason for wanting this particular six-month role could also be made more specific. Add one concrete example of your childcare responsibilities and connect your motivation directly to the family’s needs to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall arrangement, moving from your application and motivation to your background, free-time plans and closing. Paragraphing helps the reader identify these sections, and phrases such as “I am particularly interested” and “Please consider my application” signal the purpose of each part. Some links between ideas are less smooth: the opening mentions your contract ending, but this is not clearly connected to why you want to work for this family. The transition from your childcare qualifications to your suitability is also brief. Use clearer connections to show how your experience supports your application, and group related details more tightly. The closing is polite, though the sign-off could be formatted more conventionally.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal application, including “caregiver,” “career goal,” “passionate” and “verification.” These choices communicate your meaning, and the childcare and leisure vocabulary is relevant. There are some inaccurate or unnatural choices, however, such as “interest for a nanny job,” “aligns to my career goal,” and “health concious.” “Ambitition” is also misspelled, and “Australian family” is unclear because it could refer to a family in Australia or an Australian family. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise childcare terms, such as describing particular duties or skills, would also help demonstrate your suitability.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, and most of the message remains easy to understand. For example, “I am writing this letter to express my interest…” and “These activities help me to maintain my health” are clear, while the sentence about your education and work combines related information. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain. In “I am currently looking for the new opportunity,” the article is not natural; “this role aligns to my career goal and suitable to me” has an incomplete parallel structure; and “I have done my graduation” uses an awkward grammatical pattern. Review articles, prepositions and sentence structure, and make sure coordinated descriptions have matching forms. These corrections would make the letter more consistently controlled.
