Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter regarding an opportunity to work with the six month old child in australia.
I would like to tell you why I will be the perfect person to take care of your child.
I am intrested in this job because I love to work with the children. I have done studies in Childcare assistance along with the pratical training gor six months.
I would be suitable person to employ as I am calm, honest and have a lot of patience to deal with the child when they are annoyed due to any reason. I know how to handle them, as earlier I took care of my niece and now I really miss her alot. I was connected to her as I spend most of my time with her.
As I am extrovert person, I would like to explore the nearby tourist places and looking to make new friends. Along with this, I will be happy to help you with the house chores in my leisure time.
Looking forward for the reply.
Yours sincerely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in childcare, give relevant experience and personal qualities, and describe plans to explore Australia and meet people. The childcare studies and practical training, together with caring for your niece, are useful supporting details. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you could explain what your training involved or give a specific example of how you handled a child’s needs. Your free-time plans are also quite general, and offering to help with house chores is not clearly connected to how you would spend your leisure time. A more direct, detailed explanation of your suitability would make the letter more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, separate paragraphs about your motivation and suitability, and a final paragraph about your plans in Australia. This makes the main points easy to locate. You also use basic links such as “because,” “as,” and “Along with this” to connect ideas. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical or the reference is unclear. For instance, “I know how to handle them” follows a reference to “the child,” but the plural “them” is imprecise. The opening repeats the purpose of writing before moving to your reasons. Grouping related details more tightly and using clearer references would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, with relevant terms such as “Childcare assistance,” “practical training,” “patient,” and “tourist places.” You also attempt some less common expressions, including “extrovert” and “house chores,” but several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “six month old child” (the advertisement concerns a six-year-old), “intrested,” “pratical,” and “gor.” Phrases such as “deal with the child when they are annoyed” and “looking to make new friends” could be expressed more precisely. These noticeable spelling and word-choice errors do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would strengthen the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “when,” so the message is not limited to short statements. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “I would be suitable person” needs an article, and “As I am extrovert person” also requires one. In “I spend most of my time with her,” the past-time context calls for a past-tense form; “Looking forward for the reply” has an incomplete structure and an incorrect preposition. The sentence beginning “As I am…” also joins plans with an awkward construction. These issues are generally understandable, but more accurate articles, tense choices, and sentence patterns would improve control.
