You have seen an advertisement in an Australian magazine for someone to live with a family for six months and look after their six-year-old child.
Write a letter to the parents. In your letter
- explain why you would like the job
- give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ

Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are doing well.I am writing this letter to inquire about the advertisment I have seen in Australian Mazagine about looking after your six-year-old child.
I am really looking forward to get this job as I would love to visit Australia and stay with unknown family as caretaker where I can explore new relations and good nature.
I think, I will be the best fit for this role as I am working in daycare for a long time now and this is fun loving for me as I love to spend time with children and teach them basic skills.
Once I am done with the duties of a day, I would probably like to visit nearby places and park where I can meet new people and explore beautiful views which I have hardly seen in my home country.
I am hoping to get positive response from you,
Yours Faithfully,
Parth Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points: you explain your interest in visiting Australia, mention your daycare experience, and describe visiting nearby places and parks in your free time. These details are relevant and the purpose of the letter is clear. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. For example, “I am working in daycare for a long time” gives useful background but does not explain what responsibilities or skills make you suitable to care for this particular child. Likewise, your free-time plan is brief and general. Add a specific example of childcare experience and a little more detail about your interests to make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible order: you introduce your reason for writing, explain your interest and suitability, then describe your free-time plans before closing. This gives the reader a clear overall progression, and phrases such as “Once I am done with the duties of a day” help signal a change of topic. To make the organisation more polished, separate the main points into clearly defined paragraphs and use transitions that connect ideas more naturally. The sequence “visit nearby places and park where I can meet new people and explore beautiful views” combines several plans without much development. Clearer paragraphing and a more deliberate link between your experience and suitability would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “daycare,” “caretaker,” “basic skills,” and “explore.” There are also attempts to use more descriptive language, such as “beautiful views.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “stay with unknown family as caretaker” and “this is fun loving for me” do not express your meaning naturally. Spelling errors such as “advertisment” and “Mazagine” also affect the impression of control. Choose more conventional expressions for a job application and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary about childcare duties and personal qualities would help you present yourself convincingly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including the relative clause in “where I can explore” and the time clause beginning “Once I am done.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I am really looking forward to get this job” needs a gerund after “looking forward to,” while “I am working in daycare for a long time now” uses an unsuitable tense for an activity that began in the past and continues. There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary issues, such as “doing well.I am.” Review verb patterns, tense choice, and spacing after full stops, then proofread each sentence.
